Breakfast near Aquarium/Pacific - LB

I have done all my research and then some. I literally have a list of 20 breakfast places in LB, but none are quite 'fitting the bill'.

-Breakfast on Saturday around 9:30-10am for 2 adults, 1 child (8)
-Near the Aquarium
-Quick, and cheap; we don't have time for 30min.+ waits for a table and/or food
-Parking preferred if farther away, or a short walk from the Aquarium

I have it narrowed down to the Coffee Cup, Gitana, or Park Pantry. I really really wanted to eat at Bake 'n' Broil, but with no easy parking and long waits as well as it's distance from the Aquarium... seems like an obvious no. :(

We are coming from Ventura, bright and early, to visit the Aquarium and the Queen Mary, so we need a filling and fast breakfast!

Help? Thanks in advance!

  1. quick, meaning order at counter, fast food style? Here are a couple of options if you don't want to wait or pay for sit down service.
    Mosher's, on Ocean and Pine:
Chronic Tacos, new location in Belmont Shore, on Ocean, next to Vons. I don't think the site is updated to show it, but you can call them.

Belmont Shore is not going to be convenient if they're coming from Ventura! It's going to be at least 30 minutes travel time by surface streets, past the Aquarium and back again.

Since you're taking the freeway, Bake N Broil isn't really that inconvenient, as compared to taking surface streets. However you may have a problem with the waits.

The local chain Polly's Bakery Cafe is pretty good for breakfasts, not expensive and they are pretty quick with service. There is one just off the freeway on Atlantic Blvd (3490 Atlantic). In fact it's not far from Bake N Broil. You could check the line at BnB and if there is one, go over to Polly's.

It's what a lot of people do!

I wish I knew more about what was open for weekend breakfasts in downtown LB. Unfortunately I think a lot of the fast-serve places that have good quick food for the jurors and other downtown workers are not open, L'Opera Express would have been a good choice but I think it's closed.

ah! Thank you for the recs! We'll try the Bake 'n' Broil and if it's too busy we'll go to Polly's. I remember Polly's from my childhood, so it's all good. They *even* have breakfast at the Aquarium if all hell breaks loose... I just like to eat mom&pop if I can, you know? Also, thank you for taking into consideration that we are coming from Ventura. PS- We're bring a cooler just in case we eat at the BnB. Heard the baked goods are to die for!

    2. Quick, as in, as good as the food is we just don't have the time to wait 45 min. for a table, and another 20 min. for our food because it's just so busy. But counter service quick is okay, too.

      1. try the omelete inn. it's at third and pacific. don't read too much about it, but they serve a really good breakfast/lunch.

We ate at the Omelette Inn about 3 years ago. It was great, so that's definitely on our list. Thanks for the rec!

        2. Roscoe's Chicken n' Waffles is in the area. You'd have to drive, but the greatest fried chicken and waffles come out of that place.
