Breakfast Tacos in Houston

russa Jun 25, 2008 09:38 AM

Hey Hounds! I'm an ex-pat Texan flying in tomorrow (Thursday) and I've got a couple of hours to kill before I pick up my folks at Hobby and wanted to know if anyone could suggest an authentic spot for breakfast tacos preferably close to the airport and being that that area has a large Hispanic population, I'm crossing my fingers there is. Thanks!

Brother's Taco's on Dowling at Pease (just off 45) is not too far from Hobby, and they have excellent breakfast tacos. Freshly made flour tortillas (pulled off the grill when you order), a wide variety of fillings, and, best of all, a giant taco will cost you between $1.00 and $1.50 (depending on filling). The options vary from day to day, but i would highly recommend the rajas y queso (a poblano pepper and farmers cheese stew) with egg and potato. Although really, most things are pretty good (the other day they had a pork and potato stew that I had never seen which was great). Also, if they have the limon agua fresca you definitely want one. They are amazingly good and a total bargin at $2.00 or $3.00 for a giant (32 oz?) cup.
