I have been placed on this more or less traditional bodybuilder's diet (the Cartman sucking down Weight Cain 4000 to become "beefcake"! is not really the goal!) Lunch and dinner are basically:

1. lean protein (fish, chicken, turkey)
2. green salad
3. green leafy veg
4. brown rice or yams

I'm finding ways of spicing it up at home without drowning my dishes with sugary, fatty sauces (Lord knows I'd like to!), but want some options as to where to dine out under these conditions. I live in East WeHo and work in the Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs area.

Thanks!

I was on that diet awhile back. Eat Well and the Griddle for breakfast or lunch will do exactly what you need for the diet and it's very tasty.

California Chicken Cafe. Get the breast and peel the skin off. They don't have brown rice or yams, but they have steamed pureed butternut squash with no fat or salt added to it. You can get chicken the butternut squash and a side salad as a combo meal. I have them hold the croutons and substitute raw chopped broccoli on my salad. They also have several low-fat salad dressing options.

Eat Well in WeHo is great for this... love the Buddha Bowl, though I sub egg whites for tofu.

Flowering Tree in WeHo

Greenleaf Chop Shop on Wilshire for build-your-own salads

Nate'n'Al's for any combo of the above

Firehouse in Venice is perfect for you, as they have the Bodybuilder's Menu

Ruth's Chris or The Palm for protein, steamed veggies and carb

Shiro for brown rice sushi

Xi'an for healthy fusion Chinese that they'll happily do with no or little oil

Daily Grill (I know it's a chain) has Joe's special omelette (egg whites, ground turkey, mushrooms, onion, spinach)
