food/picnic/other suggestions close to Sleeping Bear Dunes?

hi folks,

i'm taking my boyfriend up to sleeping bear dunes for his birthday (we live in ann arbor, but recently moved from california). this is my first venture into northern michigan, and i'm very excited!

i saw recommendations for mabel's (for breakfast), and tapawingo (for a special dinner) on the board, both of which sound wonderful. but i wanted to check and see if there were any more suggestions for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

also, can anyone recommend a very charming place to stay nearby? b&b, cottage, or hotel is find. i'll make this appropriately chow-houndish by asking if anyone knows of a fantastic bed and breakfast in the area (with great breakfasts). but really, any recs would be *much* appreciated.

last but not least, are there recommendations for delis (to get local picnic fare) and a wonderful picnic spot? we're hiking at least 1 day up in the dunes.

thank you for helping me make this a wonderful weekend!

warm wishes,
elizabeth b.

Another recommendation for a great dinner would be:

    La Becasse Restaurant
    9001 S Dunns Farm Rd
    Maple City, MI 49664
    Phone: (231) 334-3944

One of my all time favorites up there.

The Bluebird in Leelenau is a great bar/casual place that has excellent fish.

The Market Basket in Beulah is a good spot to pick up some local produce for a picnic. They sell some cheeses, pie, and bread, along with a lot of produce, but I'm not sure if they sell meat. It's next to the Cherry Hut.
