Bday dinner during Restaurant Week

This year my birthday happens to fall during Restaurant Week! I found a list online (http://gonyc.about.com/cs/restaurants...) of participating restaurants but was hoping to find a rec from someone on the board. I'm celebrating my 21st, so I'm definitely looking for a fun restaurant with a great atmosphere, as well as amazing food. Although, of course, food comes first and foremost :

If you are into southern BBQ you should go to Blue Smoke if you can get a rezzie. I bet that would be pretty fun especially for your 21st! Get the Texas Ribs. Delicious!

egh..would you guys rec not going to a RW paticipating restaurant then? I'm probably going to have about 7-8 people there, and I'm willing to travel anywhere!

you can have a great meal for dinner during RW, you just need to pick you spot carefully. Fortunately many of the great places are booking up fast.

Lunch or dinner? How many in your party? Any preferred neighborhoods?

Most of the good restaurants do lunch only. Reservations go FAST. The restaurants are often crowded because they get super-slammed during RW. Also, you want to make sure you aren't at a place that is cutting corners or serving a low quality product because it's RW.
