Weekday bakery/sandwhich spot in JP or South End?

Arriving at Logan about 10:30am from West Coast on an empty stomach. Starting my day in Boston either in JP or South End. By the time the T takes me to either place, I'm sure I'll be ravenous but perhaps not quite up to full-on lunch fare. Which is why I thought if there's a bakery type cafe of note in either 'hood, I could have my choice of sweet or savory--something like a weekday brunch.

Prefer tasty and fresh to greasy-spoon quantity or silly expensive morsels.

Thank you!

Flour in the South End is a favorite on this board and in Boston. It's off the Washington Street Silver Line. Sandwiches, pastries, nice staff. Small patio.

You can get off the Stoney Brook T stop and go to City Feed and Supply (about 3 minute walk up Boylston). The sandwiches are huge, healthy, fresh, and tasty. I always get the Farmer's Lunch - ciabatta bread, cheddar cheese, apple (pickled i think), and turkey.

Or, get off at the same stop and go to the Amory Building - Sweet Ula's. Good pastries and sandwiches. Although I agree with Prav and would recommend Canto 6 (Green St stop) a little bit more. Great pastries and sandwiches there as well, just not a lot of space to eat in.

Second the Ula's rec. I've not tried Canto6 but had a sandwich the other day on Ula's patio -- turkey and avocado yum -- and a deeeeelicious caravan iced tea (smoky and deep). I really liked the vibe in there and the people watching at the Amory Building.

Had to comment: I had the excellent Farmer's Lunch sandwich at City Feed about two weeks ago. It's actually vegetarian, with a tangy slice of pickled green tomato, mustard, cheese, green apple slices and no turkey. I've enjoyed all the sandwiches I've had there and can't wait for the Centre Street (JP) outpost to open up!

Canto 6 is in JP, on the corner of Green and Washington. I've consistently been wowed by everything there.

For savory, I recommend the scones with ham, caramelized onion and bleu cheese.
