Food for/at Hampton Court concerts?

I'm going to see Ray Davies tonight at Hampton Court, but missed the cut-off for ordering a picnic box dinner. I've never been to a concert out there (going from London) and I don't know what to do!

This is what the website says:
A range of delicious food, tea and coffee will be available to purchase on the evening. There will also be a public bar on the East Front serving champagne, wine, beer and soft drinks.

True? Expensive?

Should I just go to a market & purchase some things to take? Can I bring my own wine?

I know this isn't the typical UK posting, but I hope someone can help me out!

Thanks.

  1. Just a guess, but I'd venture to say that the food will not be on the inexpensive side. I'm sure you can bring your own meal and probably do better. Esher which is just down the road has some good restaurants, but there's probably not time for you to try that route. I missed a concert at HC a few weeks ago as I was away, but I hear they are wonderful!
