zoememel Jun 19, 2008 09:16 PM

MY family is in love with dessert! it is our fuel! we love exploring new restaurants and have already discovered MILK on beverly, which is pretty amazing! The hot fudge sundae is very good with banana dulce ice cream and cookies and cream and the fudge is amazing! They give you very huge portioins of ice cream, which i like, i am big on getting my bucks worth. Our other favorite is the alcove on hillhurst. The sees chocolate cake is amazing. now we are looking for a new amazing dessert spot to discover and love. Have any suggestions?

On that note, you can also get Adrian Vasquez's desserts at LA Mill.

I know some of these aren't strictly bakeries but I've had some fantastic desserts at the following:

        JiRaffe: Chocolate truffle cake. HEAVEN.
Literati II: Homemade churros with a chocolate sauce
Houstons: Love their key lime pie
Cucina Paradiso: Panna cotta, creamy and amazing
Susina Bakery: Lovely cakes by the slice
Susiecakes: Their mini key lime and lemon pies are excellent. Wasn't a huge fan of the german chocolate cake.

Next time you go to MILK be sure to get one (or 10!) ooey gooey chocolate cookies, nuke it for about 10 seconds and it's like it's right from the oven! SO GOOD!

The coffee toffee bonbon/milkies are excellent. I wasn't a big fan of the other type that I tried when I was there (white chocolate I think with a berry flavor).

I printed out your list. It's sort of a fantasy for me, but eventually I might get to most of them!

AS for Tarte Tatin, have you tried the one at Chez Mimi? It's won awards!

The apple Pan banana Cream Pie should also be on that list.

Donuts from the Donut man, too

I love to hit Leda's bakeshop for cupcakes, cookies, scones, bars and more!

Where can you get cynthia's cobbler?

Just watch out for Cythnia herself, she's a real sweetheart.

Try not to go there just for dessert, "We don't do just desserts."

fortunately cynthia herself is not involved in the operation anymore. but boy, back in the day... yeah, we have some interesting stories from those visits. in fact, i planned to rent cynthia's out on a sunday afternoon for my sweet sixteen. all went well until we decided we were going to move some of the tables and chairs to the side (and yes we planned to put them back...), and she threw a hissy fit, and said "No party for you." Instead, we moved the party to the Olympic Collection, had their food, and then imported Cynthia's cobblers for dessert. But thankfully, as I said, she's gone... Cobbler away, Cynthia free... just take a friend to help put down that 9 dollar monstrosity.

Didn't know Cynthia herself is gone? I thought she started it out herself and since she's no longer there it would cease it exist.

Is the Blackberry cobbler as good as it was before?

nothing has changed except for her lack of presence, which is stellar and relieving.
