Sushi+Tatami Room, Manhattan? Brooklyn?

Does anyone know of a tasty sushi restaurant in Manhattan, or Brooklyn, that has a private tatami room that could hold 8-people AND isn't a million bucks? Sadly, the room at Naka Naka only holds 6... and no amount of tears and begging could get them to budge. Sakura Hana doesn't take reservations for their room and Morimoto doesn't offer one. Typhoon Lounge has a room but I don't know anyone who has gone. Thanks so much!

  1. Check out Kyo ya on 7th off 1st.
They have one room that could possibly accommodate/please your group.

Thanks for the tip! Sadly, their tatami room can only hold 6! What is it with that number? I either can get a max of 6 when I call around OR a minimum of 15 people and with a charge of $10 a head on top of the tab.

Kyo ya isnt a sushi restaurant but they do have a tatami room. You can get sashimi and some Osaka style sushi there, The kaiseki dishes are fantastic if you want to eat real Kyoto style food.

          1. Sakura Hana in the Village - on Hudson. It's got a 12-person tatami room and it's reasonably priced. Went there for a birthday in April and it was a good time.

Do not do the Tatami rooms at EN Japanese Brasserie. The food was atrocious and expensive.
