Lake George, Bolton Landing, & Warrensburg

javaandjazz Jun 19, 2008 03:07 PM

Looking for lunch and dinner options in these areas. More casual is better for us and any place with a beautiful view would be even better. I know there isn't much of anything but tourist places in Lake George but in the area would be great. Thanks, Richie

I don't have suggestions for Lake George village, but in Bolton Landing I can offer these -
    - Cate's Italian Garden (right on Lake Shore Drive) has good pizza.
    - Pumpernickel's has very good German specialties (http://www.pumpernickels.com
)- The Sagamore offers several dining options - eating on the Morgan for a cruise is fun, and Mr. Brown's Pub is a nice casual pub. Their other options are more upscale.(http://www.thesagamore.com/dining/index.php
)- I believe Bolton Beans (in an old diner/train car type building) also offers lunch - I've been there for breakfast and been pleased.

Other than eating on the Morgan, these places do not offer true water views - in Bolton the most obvious place for water views is the Algonquin, which we used to go to frequently, but in recent years have been really disappointed in. The service and food have both been suffering (in our opinion) lately.

In Warrensburg, I used to recommend the Merrill Magee House, but it has changed owners and names (now it's the Griffin House I believe) and I haven't been there since it changed. There is also supposed to be a very good Italian option in Warrensburg - I'm sure someone else will chime in with the name, which I've forgotten. If you need provisions, Oscar's Smokehouse in Warrensburg has fabulous smoked meats and the like.

A bit further afield, in Glens Falls we like Davidson Brothers Brewery (http://www.davidsonbrothers.com/). And over in Friends Lake, the Friends Lake Inn has fabulous food and wine (http://www.friendslake.com/).

    Have fun!

Saratoga Rose is nearby and we liked the quaintness and the food was good.

Thanks! Is there anything near the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake?

Bears! LOL. Seriously all jokes aside the area around Blue Mountain Lake has little to offer in dining options. I lived in Indian Lake for years which is the village before Blue Mountain on 28.
The Bear Trap Inn on 28 before leaving Indian Lake heading toward Blue Mountain use to have a decent lunch.

There is a GREAT dining option in Speculator if you're in that area at all - It's called Melody Lodge and it's a sweet, true Adirondack lodge with very nice food. Make a reservation!

(There is also a great breakfast place in Speculator called Common Grounds and it behind the Speculator Department Store.)
