Greenport/North Fork/Shelter Island Dining

I will be out there on a Monday night in July and I need the absolute best dining I can find regardless of price.

north fork table and inn hands down - really worth it - i would avoid the frisky oyster, based on a very negative experience (in short - decent but not great food, pricey, aloof).

Don't forget the Seafood Barge in Southold....excellent food....

The absolute best has to be North Fork Table, to my knowledge.

I've never had a bad meal there...I was there in late March, and my son was there about 2 weeks ago, and he said it was as good as ever. They do change chef's regularly, so there are changes in some of their typical menu items over the years.

I don't think I ever had a great meal at The Seafood Barge. Slap a piece of fish on a grill or in a frying pan, & serve it up. It's fine for what it is, but neither the cuisine nor the ambience is "the absolute best" as jp62 requires. I've never been to The North Fork Table and Inn, but I've heard outstanding things about it, and we had the best food we ever had in a restaurant on the North Fork at The Frisky Oyster.

Try the Frisky Oyster in Greenport or The North Fork Table and Inn in Southold.
