Casual Catering/Party Rooms in Houston

I am looking for a place to have a surprise birthday party for my mom in Houston. It will be for roughly 25-30 people. I don't want something super formal and would not like to spend over 1000k if possible. Any thoughts? No BBQ or chinese please. Anything else. Location isn't an issue. That is what cars are for. :)

azuma (japn) on kirby and t'afia (local american) both have private rooms that might accomodate that number, and hugo's (upscale mex) on westheimer will accomodate large parties but they tend to add a lot of fees after the "meal" price is negotiated.

Another couple that I would suggest are Grotto and Vincents. I used to organize events for my company and Grotto was very accomodating. Most of the Pappas restaurants have rooms that you can close off and reserve for no extra charge (Pappasitos and Pappadeauxs definitely do).
