Anyone try BBQ at Dave's Fresh Pasta?

Dave's Fresh Pasta in Davis Sq has been setting up a sidewalk BBQ stand the last few Saturdays. My BBQ-loving partner and I have been out of town for most Saturdays, but we'll be in town this weekend and we were wondering if anyone has tried it.

Shame they can't serve beer...that might pull us in regardless of any reviews, good or bad.

  1. I usually frequent Formaggio Kitchen's bbq but after seeing this post decided to check out Dave's Fresh Pasta for some bbq (and some yummy pasta). The bbq was set up on the street in front of the store and they had a menu posted with 4 items: 1) pork ribs w/coleslaw 2) chicken sausage with onions and peppers 3) pearl hot dogs w/homemade jalpeno relish and 4) chicken kabobs on pita with tzatziki. It was definitely a more limited menu than Formaggio but it all looked and smelled good. My boyfriend and I tried the ribs and chicken sausage. The ribs were delicious with a tasty smoked flavor and just a hint of bbq sauce. The meat was so tender and just fell off the bone as I tried to eat it. The coleslaw was pretty good (not too much mayonaise) but I think I have a preference for Formaggio's coleslaw. The chicken sausage was also very good. The sausage was very juicy and complemented well by the peppers and onions. Overall it was a very nicely executed bbq and I'll definitely be going back for some more ribs and to try the hot dogs!

The chicken kabob was also delicious!

    2. We had it last weekend - very good, inexpensive - *and* we did sneak a beer open. Nice hot day - great lunch!
