New butcher on Kingston Road

Otonabee Jun 18, 2008 03:19 PM

So I noticed that there is a new butcher opening up east of Victoria Park on Kingston Road. It is just a couple of doors down from the Art of Cheese.

I am very excited to see a butcher at the top of the hill (finally!) them but has anyone heard any rumours about them?

It is called "Close to the Bone" and should be open in a few weeks, if not sooner. I am excitied as these are people from the neighbourhood who are just fantastic. They have been working very hard on getting ready and sourcing the best, locally and naturally raised meat they can find. Let's all welcome them to the 'hood. I know I can't wait to be able to walk and get some great cuts...

That is excellent news! I will absolutely be a regular.

      Thanks for the inside scoop.

Just thought I would revive this thread and ask if anyone has been in? What's it like? How's the meat?

It still does not appear to be open sadly (at least it wasn't at last glance). Hopefully soon!

Oh, rats! Thanks for the update, though, Otonabee. Saves a trek over to check.

We're open. We're still receiving delivers of stock but we're opened the doors.

Has any hound been in to sample the meats?

I was just in today since I couldn't wait. It looks really nice, they are betting meat from a number of suppliers including Clement Poultry and the steaks looked pretty good! Bought some lovely smelling fatty bacon there today which I suspect should be tasty.

They are obviously very enthusiastic and judging from the crowd in there today I suspect the place will be popular. They apparently will order in different meats including goat, elk and boar so that may be kind of cool.

I think for me the most exciting part is to finally have a butcher within walking distance! Now if only we could be Harvest Wagon to most to the area....
