Eating Solo -- tonight -- out of towner

I'm in Chicago from LA and would like to treat myself to a great dinner tonight -- somewhere I can eat alone and not feel obvious. I'm staying in the River North area, so anything downtown works. I prefer to eat at counters and bars, and there should be booze. I'm a very adventurous eater, so throw any suggestions at me. And thank you so much for your help!

Here's a couple spots where you can sit at the bar and enjoy:

Coco Pazzo (restaurant NOT cafe) has a great bar surrounding the open kitchen.

Joe's Seafood, Steak and Stone Crab has a very lively bar area where you can eat off the full menu.

Aigre Doux also has a nice bar right in front where you can eat off the full menu.

Avec. A very long bar with fantastic food and wine. It's easier to get a seat if you're by yourself anyway.

I enjoy eating at the bar at Blackbird, next door to Avec (with common ownership). It's located at 619 W. Randolph. Here's a link to the dinner menu http://www.blackbirdrestaurant.com/di...
