My fiance and I just got back from St. Thomas & St. John. I had looked on here for some recomendations and was really pleased with what I read so I also wanted to share for anyone visiting there anytime soon.

St. Thomas – We stayed at the Marriott Morning Star and what a WONDERFUL property. They had several restaurants onsite so we did try some of them. The night we arrived they were having a Caribbean cookout with roasted pig and all. What a great dinner! It was a great way to start our trip.

We decided to go offsite the next night and we went to Mim’s. It’s on the way to Red Hook. When we got out of the Taxi boy where we treated with just the best smell! They are known for their stuffed lobsters. We both had the Conch Fritters (they were a little disappointing) then we both split the Lobster Bisque. It was very good. Had a lot of fresh seafood chunks in it. Then for our entrée we both had the Stuffed Lobster with Coconut & Curry Sauce. BOY WAS THIS AMAZING. I don’t care for curry but this was sooooo sweet due to the coconut. It was HUGE too! This was my fiancé’s favorite meal.

The next day we went to St. John. We drove the island and hung out on the beaches (WONDERFUL DAY). We stopped at Skinny Legs to enjoy a cocktail or two and split a burger. We had the Blue Cheese Burger and it was a great way to hold us over until dinner. I had read about an Italian restaurant La Divo’s in Cruz Bay that was suppose to be very good. Well it was! We were pleasantly surprised. There were only two other couples there the night we were there but we talked with the owner and his wife and child. The food was so fresh and wonderful. My fiancé had the noodles in red/meat sauce and I had the Lobster Ravioli. We also had a Caprice Salad to start and to finish we had the Tiramisu and the Canoli. I’ve never had anything so fresh in my life even when I went to Italy! The restaurant has only been opened a year and we both hope they make it because on our return trip we will certainly be going back!

We went into St. Thomas for shopping the next day and at lunch at Mason Amelia and it was great. A little on the expensive side but still very good. We also ate at The Greenhouse just for some apps one night since we weren’t hungry. On Wednesday they have 2-for-1 drinks so we had a few and tried the potato skins. We weren’t disappointed at all. We just didn’t go back for another meal with many other choices.

We also ate dinner one night at Herve in St. Thomas. We had the wilted spinach salad to split for starters and I had the Lamb Chops and they were perfect! My Fiancé had the Filet and then we had their little chocolate cream cup (I can’t remember the name of them) for dessert. This was one of my favorite meals.

We also ate two nights at the hotel in addition to the first night. One night we ate at Windows on the Harbor. We where both very disappointed in this. No ambiance whatsoever. The food was okay. Nothing to really right home about that’s for sure.

We also ate at Blue Havana which was on the Morning Star side of the resort. Oh my was that a great meal. We started with the trout civiche which was very tasty. Then we both had the Sea Bass with wasabi mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. It was very good. The sauce really made the dish. We also had cocktails there several nights and it’s just a really pretty restaurant and a great drink menu.

I really hope this helps me the way it helped me before I went!!!! ENJOY!

  1. My husband and I have been to St. Thomas two times and absolutely love it. We have stayed at the Point Pleasant Resort near Red Hook both times. The resort isn't very fancy but it is private and romantic. Our studio suite had a balcony that overlooked the bay and it was so nice to just sit out there with drinks and take in the view. Our favorite restaurant was Banana Tree Grill in Charlotte Amamlie (sp?). We also enjoyed Agave Terrace although I have been reading that it has gone down in the past few years. The most exciting place that we went to was called Miss Lucy's on St. John. It was a BBQ/Buffet style on the water in the middle of now where. If you plan to go here, make sure you have reliable transportation for the way home so you can catch the ferry on time back to St. Thomas if you are staying in St. Thomas.
