You can't go wrong with a porterhouse, but whenever I hear that someone is going to Keens, I always suggest they get the mutton. The Keens steak is quite good, but you can get that at any good steakhouse. The mutton, on the other hand, is not only a great piece of meat, but unique and something you will rarely find elsewhere (even though it's not actually technically mutton). Still, if you are going there with a few other people, I'd suggest at least one of you tries the mutton. I doubt they will be sorry.

The name was originally Keens Chophouse, and so when we go to Keens, though we occasionally get steak, most of the time, my husband gets the mutton chop and I get the lamb chops. Both are superb!

We like to start with a shrimp cocktail or the Caesar salad. Favorite sides: creamed spinach, carrots, and asparagus.

And don't forget dessert. The Coffee Cantata is seriously delicious.

I've had the mutton, the prime rib and the porterhouse. Only the porterhouse was impressive.

I've had the porterhouse for two and the prime rib. Of the two, the porterhouse came very strongly recommended by our server and it was indeed better than the prime rib, which looked impressive but didnt live up to first impressions. However, while the porterhouse was good, it wasn't extraordinary (that same week or so I also ate at P Lugers, Wolfgang's and B&J's). You might want to try the mutton.
