Coconut Cake Recommendations?

Hello Everyone,

My boyfriend requested a coconut cake for his birthday this year. I have no idea where to order one in Austin?! I'm not very familiar with bakeries in Austin, and the ones I do know don't bake coconut cakes. Help me make my boyfriend's birthday spectacular!

Thanks!

this seems really weird, but Fuego's on north lamar, that specializes in "cali-mex" has the most delicious coconut cake. also tres leches, but i think the coconut cake is the best.

We went to Fuego's for the first time tonight and had the coconut cake for dessert. It was fantastic, served warm and was almost like a bread pudding. The female owner told us that they make all of the desserts themselves from family recipes.

Thank you so much for all of your suggestions! I ordered a cake from Russell's this morning. I thought about baking a cake for him, but I'm not a great baker and I don't want to take the risk!

Agreed. It is awesome -- moist and not too terribly sweet.

I know that Russell's Bakery sells a coconut cake that many people like. I am not personally recommending it, just passing along the info: http://www.russellsbakery.com/

Yes! I was just going to post the same thing--try Russell's. Had one several months back and it was very good.
