Hey Foodies,
I am looking for some desperate help here because I have never been to Los Angeles and this is my first time. It is my girlfriends birthday, she is out there for work and I was trying to think of some places we could go out during the entire week we are there.

She loves:
Chinese, Sushi, Burgers, BBQ, Real Real Italian, Ta pas, and good American fare.

Hotel Angeleno
170 N. Church Lane
Los Angeles,CA 90049
USA

Thank you all so much, I look forward coming and visiting your town and please let me know if you are ever in Chicago, I can hopefully rec some good places.

Take care

  1. You have many options that are fairly close to the Hotel Angeleno. There are a lot of sushi places that are fairly close on or near Sawtelle in West Los Angeles. Can't promise you on the traffic but you jump onto the 405 south and go two or three exits south and be in the middle of a few traditional sushi places. Kiriko is a very popular traditional style sushi restaurant and is located at 11301 Olympic Blvd #102. (http://www.kirikosushi.com). Another option is Hide Sushi located at 2040 Sawtelle Blvd., don't forget to bring cash because they don't take plastic.

For hamburgers you can and should go to In n Out for a fast food burger. There is an In n Out in Westwood, which is a short drive away from the hotel (922 Gayley Ave.). A pricier burger option is The Brentwood (http://www.brentwoodrestaurant.com/Me...) located at 148 North Barrington Ave. Celebrity sightings may vary.

The Brentwood owners have an Italian restaurant in Santa Monica, Capo, which is fantastic. (http://www.caporestaurant.com/

    )

    Enjoy your trip.

    1. Head down to Montana Avenue in Santa Monica (less than 10 mins by car) for a Father's Office burger.

      1. Mixed reviews & a bit pricey, but for Italian I like Peppones. Good food and great ambiance, and it's only minutes from your front door. Click on the link below, and then scroll down a bit.

        Let us know

Capo is indeed very good, and VERY expensive.

        1. If you're from out-of-town and you're here on a Friday or Saturday night, have dinner at The Getty. Reservations recommended.

          1. I've had some nice meals at West at the top of the Angeleno, but I haven't been in awhile. There are many good Italian restaurants in Brentwood - Pizzicotto, Pecorino, Amici - just to name a few. I haven't been, but I hear that Il Carpaccio in Pacific Palisades is good and I would also recommend La Botte in Santa Monica

Chang's on San Vicente has some decent Chinese food.

Barney's Gourmet Hamburgers on San Vicente is also quite tasty.

For a romantic atmosphere, you might want to check out the Bel Air Hotel. Maybe just for drinks or lunch, though, because dinners don't get very good reviews on this board.

Chang's is closed. Barney's is minutes from Father's Office, which is the better place to go for burgers (and there's a Barney's at Barrington/San Vicente, closer to Angelino), but the Country Mart is a good idea for lunch, for the Reddi Chick.

I would add to this list Toscana and Vincenti and Drago, as well as Mimi's. All are excellent restaurants in Brentwood.

            2. I would also recommend a cocktail in West restaurant at the top of the Angeleno. Great view, especially recommended at sunset. Have never eaten there, so can't say if it's any good or not.

              1. So far great suggestions.

Sushi-Katsua in Brentwood. Maybe you'll run into a celebrity, i have on wednesday and thursdays. Pinkberry is very "LA." For burgers in the area, you can try the Counter, but I like Barneys better. Great sweet potato fries!

Watch the sunset on Ocean in Santa Monica and hit up a place to eat there as well. It's beautiful. If you like to workout, you can also do the "Santa Monica Stairs" on 4th street and San Vicente. Great people watching.
