TN - Henderson and Lexington BBQ Trail

Planning a one day outing to Henderson and Lexington and looking for guidance.

As of right now, looks like the following would be my top 4. I haven't called to make sure they're all still open, but hopeful.

Hays Smoke House in Lexington
Scott's in Lexington
Old Time (formerly Bob's and L&L apparently) in Henderson
Joyner's in Jacks Creek

Anyone able to comment on these? Offer other suggestions? Looking for representative BBQ for the area as well as anything unique. Thanks!

Hays is now Curt's Smokehouse. Another BBQ place that uses wood and no gas cookers is Latham's On north US-45 Business route in Jackson.

JD's BBQ is another one in the area I might suggest at 2640 Tn-100, Reagan, TN

All the places mentioned are real good

I would say go to Scott's and Old Time, which are both excellent (be sure to specify what part of the hog you want the meat from -- I would recommend middlin, myself). I would also add Bill's in Henderson to your list (and be sure to get a fried pie). Hays has changed hands and the new owner hasn't quite figured it out yet (and I have my doubts whether that will ever happen). Joyners is OK, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Joyners just changed hands (like in the last week or so) to new owners - maybe???
Bill's uses an electric smoker - 'nough said (used to be Thomas & Webb, awesome!)
Old Time just changed hands about 3mths ago, heard it is as good as ever
        Scott's is still great
Agree w/grundoon about Hay's - has not figured it out.

Joyners has new owners, like very new owners - dont know yet
Bills uses electric "smoker" - 'nough said!
Old Time (L&L) has new owner, as good as it ever was
          Scotts is still great
          Hays - NO.

Thanks, sounds like Scott's and Old Time will be the first two stops, and we'll hit more if we can after that.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I hit Scott's, Siler's Old Time, Jack's Creek, as well as Price's down near Savannah, TN. Scott's was the best, followed by Old Time. Great folks at both places. Ribs at Jack's Creek were not bad, but I really appreciate the whole hog work done at Scott's and Old Time.

When in Lexington, you absolutely positively gotta go to Lexington #1

This may provide a little background. Have fun. That's an area I'd love to tour.
