New Haven steakhouses

Have a family member coming in who only wants to eat at a steakhouse in New Haven. I have no idea why, but I can't convince him to change his mind.

Any suggestions?

Carmen Anthony's on State Street is the only steak house coming to mind.

Another choice is Cental on Orange St

I'm kinda of the same mind, as you. Wonder if you could sway them towards Union League Cafe or an Italian resto that does a good job with steaks? Other than ULC, I'm not sure who that would be but we've just been talking about Italian: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/52918...
Since I seldom, intentionally go out for steak (meaning, not yet in NH), I have ended up at Central Steakhouse twice, because of circumstances. Both times it was very good and service was impeccable. If this person is into wine, see if you can sit downstairs, where part of the wine cellar is (you are surrounded by wine). They have one of the best selections in the area. My understanding is Central Steakhouse is at least on-par with Carmen Anthony.

Having eaten at both many times, Central is a bit better in that if you don't want steak they have decent fish. Don't bother with their super expensive "prime" $50 steaks the regulars at $25 seem just about the same.
