Peruvian @ Gennesee/Balboa? (SD)

  • 1

I went through a shopping center in this area with a friend today, and I noticed a sign above a Mexican joint (Nieto's?) saying that they also serve Peruvian cuisine. The name was Aji something . . . Aji Spice?
Sorry my details are sketchy, but has anyone tried this place?

  1. Aji Seco is the name. Ate there and enjoyed it. Homey Peruvian comfort food with a ceviche or two on the menu. Could be quite different by now since I ate there perhaps three months ago and the place was just getting it's feet on the ground. Owner is a nice fellow and the co-owner is the chef. It is open only Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun nights and occupies the dining room half of Nieto's (which serves pleasant enough tacos, burritos, etc.).

Give it a try, it's not expensive and the food was good, not great, and the service was pleasant.
