We'll be taking someone to camp east of new bern next month and having never stayed in the area, was wondering where we might get some decent food before dropping him off...thanks. we usually stop in kingston for awesome bbq from king's but are planning on staying overnite in new bern this time. thanks.

There are a number of them. My mother lives there and I go every year. My favorite place is Thai Thai. Some of these threads may help as well:

thanks a bunch!! have eaten at one of those seafood restaurants (the one with the rooftop) -- wasn't too bad -- but will definitely look into the others you've shown me...

I think that is Captain Ratty's - I pretty much just get oysters there. I'm not a big fan of The Chelsea - my Mom lives on that block and likes to go sometimes. The artichoke dip is good.

The Chelsea House downtown is good...

I've been in New Bern a lot recently. Have had some great meals at the Chelsea downtown (two blocks from the Sheraton) and the Thai place close to the hospital (I think that is the one mentioned by the other poster.) I haven't found any other places that I would recommend but am hopeful for some suggestions other than bbq. Moore's 'que is decent but I can get better closer to my home.

I think that's the same Thai place - and as far as I know, the only one in New Bern.
