I had one again about two weeks ago - just as good - though rather amused when it came with some cherry tomatoes nicely arranged on the bun. The waitress thought I'd ordered them, when in fact I ordered the "sherried mushrooms". Quickly fixed and we all had a good laugh, but I wouldn't bother with the mushrooms next time as they were quite devoid of flavor, sherry or otherwise. The waffles fries are excellent, crisp yet chewy.

I cannot vouch for it yet, as I am going to give it a try for my first time tomorrow or Wednesday, but I've heard some really good things about Joy Burger on 101st and Lex. I do know they deliver, and I'd assume they would make it to 86th and 2nd, but I'll give a report here after I eat there.

I'd also second Ottomanelli's as just a very good, reasonably priced restaurant.

If you are looking for a great "fancy pants burger" (as Ed Levine calls them), Cafe D'alsace is really awesome. He ranked it #1 for him, and I tried it and thought it was great too.

After reading this post last week, I gave Joy Burger a shot last night. Very good! I love medium rare burgers, but I've found sometimes in the city ordering medium rare gets you a bloody slab of uncooked cow on a bun - so I ordered medium. Well I got a medium rare burger when I ordered medium, and I was thankful ;) The burger was really delicious (I got the Maxi because I was starving) - you can get a free pickle on the side. The fries are very fresh, crisp and pleasant - and gotta love the bottled soft drinks.

On top of that it's quite affordable. If you got a midi (5oz) and fries it'd only come to $6.50. That's cheaper than burger king or mcdonalds is in the UES.

By the way, I tried Joy Burger on 100th and Lex tonight and it was pretty good. But not amazing by any means. It's great for the kind of place it is - which is ordering at the counter and then bringing your food to a seat type of place. And they have a ton of different options for stuff and sauces you can have on your burger. It's definitely a good deal for the price though.

Been there hundreds of times. There last week actually. And no burger on the UES, or Manhattan for that matter, equals it. That said, it can be inconsistent. At it's worst it is a very good burger. At it's best it is a thing of beauty.

Obviously -- JG Melons, but they don't deliver, do they?

I personally hate Jackson Hole but people rave about it.

I've had an OK burger from Burger Heaven....Uptown Lounge and Gracie's Corner are above average too. (all on seamless web)

Wicker Park is good, don't know if they deliver...

I've been a fan of Soup Burg (77th & Lex), but just tried Ottomanelli's. Now I've now seen the light. Ottomanelli's has delicious burgers and fries! (Agree with MMRuth, Ottomanelli's burgers and fries taste a lot better than JG Melon's. They're also a better value.)

I went to Ottomanelli's (93rd/lex) yesterday and while the burger was tasty, it was not what I had hoped for. I guess my biggest gripe was that I asked for medium and got well done, and it didn't have much flavor. the bun was great, and the garlicky butter that they dollop on it really added a nice flavor to the whole burger. The waffle fries were also well done.

That would bum me out - nothing ruins a burger more, IMO, than having it well done when you don't want it that way. Glad you tried it though! And didn't get any "cherry tomatoes" on your bun!
