Tarte Tatin in West Hollywood?

hippodeir Jun 16, 2008 01:47 PM

Does anyone know of a place where I can get a slice of Tarte Tatin in this general area? (It's dad's favorite...)

I called Sweet Lady Jane, Pain Quotidien, Michel Richard, Little Next Door, Joan's...nobody has it (some can make it to order, but only a larger size...)

Urth Caffe and Little Next Door have great apple tarte tatin by the slice.

Le Petite Bistro on La Cienega serves an excellent tatin.

My favorite is the Italian version at Il Pastaio Trattoria on Canon Dr. I don't know how they do it but the apples and crust just reminds me of the "Torta di Mele" in La Campana, Rome. Yum!

Salades de Provence (La Cienega and Holloway) often has this on their desert specials menu, and it's excellent! If you're nice to Richard, he'll let you order some to-go.

Gordon Ramsay. Not a slice, but a mini tarte tatin. It was a non-menu special dessert when I went, but they prob still have it.

                Mimosa has it.

The Ivy has it, and it's apparently a stellar version, according to Mommy.

The best tarte tatin on this planet is actually in La Jolla, at Wired cafe.
