haven't been on board for a while - was reading some past posts that said Brooklyn Chinatown @ Sunset Park has good Vietnamese.

can anyone specify which are the best Vietnamese places there?

thanks.

ok, thanks. i had seen the thread about Nha Trang, but not Gia Lam. for some reason, i was thinking the 8th Avenue "Chinatown" was different from the Sunset Park area - but apparently not.

so it seems Nha Trang and Gia Lam are the two recommended Vietnamese in that area (as opposed to Bensonhurst).

Originally you had only asked about Sunset Park. People swear by Pho Tay Ho in Bensonhurst. I like it fine but I wouldn't travel an extra 30 minutes on a subway to get there. Since I drive, the trip isn't so difficult to me.

Try them all. None are particularly expensive and you won't have a bad meal at any of them.

Cho Lon, which is on the same block as one of the Gia Lam's, is also very good. But it would be hard to go wrong with any of them.
also, Thanh Da, at 6008 7th ave, has great sandwiches and a pretty decent sized menu of other main dishes as well, which all look good. (ive only had the sandwiches there.) it has like two tables, however.
ba xuyen, on 8th and 43rd also has incredible vietnamese sandwiches.
