Family celebration in Vancouver

We're looking for great seafood and a relaxed atmosphere for a double birthday celebration. We'll have several kids with us, so some nonseafood choices and a tolerant atmosphere will be welcome too. Scenery would be a plus.

Do you think Blue Water Cafe is a good choice? Maybe we should try The Cannery or the Beach Side Cafe?

Thanks for all your help!

I haven't taken my kids to Blue Water...but I suspect it will be fine. More casual places with scenery are Sandbar on Granville Island or Cardero's in Coal Harbour, both of which seem kid friendly.

...Monk McQueens maybe (also on False Creek).

We ended up with dinner at Cardero's (close to the hotel) and brunch at The Fish House. The food at Cardero's was OK and it was noisy enough that it was hard to have a conversation. The Fish House was the perfect spot for a midday meal on a gorgeous day--we rented bikes and explored Stanley Park before and after. Since they couldn't provide a birthday cake, we brought in cupcakes (from Cupcakes on Denman) for dessert, and it worked out perfectly.

What a great city. I can't wait to go back.

Thanks for posting back and glad the Fish House worked out so well -- it is one of my favourite places for brunch. I hesitate to recommend it as it is not exactly cutting edge and I've not heard feedback on their kid friendliness before, but I've never had a bad meal there. As it happens you didn't order the dessert there which was just as well; it's one area they could do better on IMO.
