Cuba de Ayer

Is Cuba de Ayer still open? If so, what are the entree price ranges? Or does anyone have any better suggestions for Cuban or Spanish food between Silver Spring and Baltimore City?

Thanks

  1. Haven't been there in a while. It is very casual. Try Cubano's in downtown Silver Spring. Always excellent, nice surroundings, reasonable prices. Big public parking garage a 1/2 block away. We've enjoyed every one of the half dozen meals we've had here.

    1. Cuba de Ayer is still open. I checked it out a few months ago after it was listed in the Post's 2007 Cheap Eats guide. The food and service were fantastic.

      1. This really is a popular place for Cuban food, even among people in the know, but it left me uninspired. I lived in Miami for six years, have Cuban in-laws, and made a recent trip, but I much prefer the bandeja (sampling platter) at Cubano's in Silver Spring any day. If you go, make sure you get BOTH sauces, the mojo and the cilantro aioli.

        1. I've eaten there a few times recently--I especially loved their arroz con pollo and my wife loves their tres leches cake.

          1. Definitely still open. Definitely not a better Cuban option between Silver Spring and Baltimore. Entries, if I remember right, were $10-20, but I think the sandwiches may have been slightly less.
