authentic italian deli in LA?

Is there an authentic Italian deli in LA? Preferably in the South Bay or Westside.

I got to this link because a friend told me about a Italian deli in Granada Hills. Italia Bakery & deli on Balboa Blvd. The problem is I live in Ventura. I too relocated here from the east coast, Buffalo. Anyone know any GOOD italian places closer to Ventura? At Easter I order stuff from buffalofoods.com, however you have to pay through the nose for shipping. Ugh! thanks

the only one closer to Ventura that I know of is in Newhall on Lyons, Maria's. Its a small place, I think Italia on Balboa may have more items.

        Bay Cities Italian Deli
        1517 Lincoln Blvd.
        Santa Monica

You should find what you need without any problems (except for pasta made that day).

In the South Bay, I really like Giuliano's in Gardena. It's been around for many years and is a local favorite. In particular, their freshly made antipasto salad is fantastic.

Guilianos has a location in Torrance as well, near the corner or Torrance and Hawthorne

            Sorrento Italian Market
            5518 Sepulveda Blvd. (nr. Jefferson)
            Culver City

I'm not a connoisseur, but this place seems to be packed with authentic stuff, and the people working there seemed to be Italiano. I was looking for fresh mascarpone and they filled the bill.

If you're willing to include Belmont Shore in the parameters of your search, you'll do well to check out Angelo's Italian Deli, 190 La Verne Ave, a few steps south of 2nd St. Stepping inside is like being transported to a little shop on Boston's North End or Bensonhurst, NYC. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful, and the deli case is full of hard-to-find cuts and cheeses. In addition, a good selection of olive oils and balsamic vinegars, baked goods, and kitchen staples. The only thing I would wish for would be a selection of distinctive Italian wines to go with the food. I can find those elsewhere, but ahh, to be able to buy it all in one place. Hope you get a chance to check it out. 562 424 1977.

WHile my favorite Italian delis are Claro's in the S Gabriel Valley and Pinocchio/Monte Carlo in Burbank, on the Westside, try Bay Cities on Lincoln (I believe).
