Hi - my husband and I are travelling to CAlifornia this summer and spending two nights in Santa Monica. Lookingg for interesting/unusual/fabulous restaurant recs.

We are also spending time in San Fran, Monterey, and San Luis Obispo on this trip. If you have any recs for those places, please let me know! Thanks.

  1. Santa Monica for 2 nights means some great dining. You won't need to venture into LA, and why get in the car? Don't know where you're staying, but walking distance from most SM hotels are some of the city's best restaurants like
    Anisette
    Chinois on Main
    Father's Office
    Whist at Viceroy
    Catch at Casa del Mar
    Via Veneto
    Chaya Venice
    Musha
    Capo
Interesting an fabulous would mean that a visit to Musha is a must. Anisette is the newest, and most incredible, a french brasserie. Other good restaurants in the area include Ivy at the Shore (lots of people here don't love it, but I do), Boa, Penthouse at the Huntley (a must for a drink, if only for the view), Sushi Roku, Joe's Pizza, Budha's Belly, Chloe, Library Alehouse... Could go on and on

Second a lot of these - Musha, Via Veneto, FO, Anisette ... definitely would not advise Sushi Roku (can't stand this place)...

For finer dining, Jiraffe, Melisse, Josie

For lunch, Bay Cities Deli for the godfather or godmother, Tudor House for pastries and afternoon tea, Ye Olde King's Head Pub for fish'n'chips

For breakfast, Amandine for a croissant, Snug Harbor, Bread and Porridge
