Glitter and Doom in Phoenix

I'm coming to Phoenix for three nights for the Tom Waits shows next week at the Orpheum Theatre downtown. Staying close to the venue at the Hotel San Carlos, so I'll be on foot (or at least in no condition to drive)... I know other threads have suggestions for downtown PHX, but with the 100+ temps, I'm looking for places as close to these locales as possible or the spots truly worth the cab ride... Open to any cuisine (swordfishtrombones excluded), but hoping to save a little cash due to gas prices... thanks....

  1. You're in the heart of what downtown calls "Copper Square". The link below is an interactive map of restaurants (and other attractions). Hope this helps.

    1. This was discussed recently in another thread:

Keep in mind that the Orpheum and the San Carlos are both in the heart of Downtown, so those are the threads you want to be looking at.

For what it's worth, my wife and I went to see Return to Forever last night at the Dodge Theater, which is just a few blocks from the Orpheum, and we had a pre-concert dinner at Cibo (mentioned in the other thread). I hadn't been to Cibo in a long time, but it has really blossomed since our last visit. We had a delicious antipasto platter, a smoked salmon pizza, a mushroom pizza, and a fruit crepe for dessert. There's a nice selection of Italian wines, too.
