New Indian in Durham
I just passed by Taste of India on University Drive, which appears to be a newly opened Indian restaurant in the K-Mart strip mall. It doesn't look terribly promising from the outside, but one never knows. Has anyone tried it?
I haven't tried it yet, but there was a little write-up about it in the paper. I've included the important bits below:
Ballal Hossain is the owner and this is his first attempt at owning his own restaurant. He is originally from Bangladesh and has been in the restaurant business here in the U.S. for 11 years. He started as a dishwasher in New York and ended up as a chef at Bombay Grille on N.C. 54.
Taste of India features both northern and southern indian cuisine and has a $7.95 lunch buffet on weekdays, $8.95 on weekends. Every buffet order gets naan bread and a serving of tandoori chicken from the kitchen.
The house specialty will be the Palace Dinner for two. This will include tandoori chicken, lamb shish-kebab, tandoori prawns, vegetable curry and more for $34.95.
