Any Upcoming Events/Wine Dinners?
I don't know if food events would make it into the Star "what's on" section, but other than Summerlicious, I was wondering if anyone knew of any upcoming gastronomic 'events'.
For purposes of this post, I'll also exclude street festivals (there is an Italian one now, and "taste of the danforth"... that kind of thing I'm excluding).
An example that I recently missed out on was an annual Leek festival spearheaded by Michael Stadtlander (of Eigensinn Farm fame) that I would have loved to attend.
Another example would be a visiting winemaker dinner.

On August 10, the Rotary Club in Burlington is holding Lakeside a la Carte. This event brings together some of the finest restaurants and wineries in the region for a gourmet dining experience on the Waterfront in huge white tents. Here is the link:

The final "Green Gastronomy" event is coming up at c5. We're checking it out on July 11th when the guest chefs are Bertrand Alépée and Jason Inniss, and I'm hoping it'll be worth the $125pp (which includes hors d'oeuvres, 4 courses and wine pairings).

The Hidden Bench dinner at Globe was very good. And Norman Hardie is such a character, I'm sure it will be another fun one.
The Wine Establishment has an event with a bunch of restaurants, sommeliers and wines on June 21st. I think it's $90 per person.
NB will opening within the first 2 weeks of July.-

I just got an email from the Globe Bistro, theyre having a couple more events including a multi-course winemaker dinner featuring Norman Hardie and his wines on Thursday, July 3 starting at 6:30 PM for I think 125$. Also on Tuesday, June 24 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM theres a Chardonnays taste/learn event on the rooftop lounge with wines and food for 30$. Hope that helps! I sent my parents to the last wine taste/learn event and they had an amazing time.

There's one event I wish I could have checked out recently -- the white asparagus dinner put on every May by the German Trade Commission. I learned about it in in Gina Mallet's recent review of the Musket -
http://blog.ginamallet.com/blog/_arch...I had white asparagus all different ways in Austria a couple of years ago during 'spargel season'. They fly the asparagus in the day before for this dinner and you probably have to be a member and it's probably tres $ but man there's nothing like that asparagus fresh from its own terroir.

re: JamieK
I had der spargel in the Mosel valley in 2006, so I know what you mean!
That's exactly the kind of events I'd like to see contributors post (but before the fact)!
I'd like to see a pinned thread for "events" underneath the only pinned thread "new to this board" so that we can all keep each other updated.
