Ralph's is offering $1.00 tickets with $10 min. purchase to the SD Fair in Del Mar on Tuesday, June 17th and the reason I throw this out there is that Grand Funk Railroad and the Guess Who are playing at the Grandstand for free..(hope you are reading this Josh)
Don't get much better than that!
Gotta love all that food at the fair and wonder what candy bar or hostess snack product that they are going to fry up?
My fav is the grilled corn on the cob, deep-fried zucchini and calamari.

Wheelchair ramp up to the stage.. that is frigging hilarious!!!

I was there and the Guess Who rocked!
When American Women started to play, the crowd went nuts..
I didn't see a wheelchair ramp to the stage but those old guys were solid and I have never seen a 'oversized' drummer before..
Had several beers, a turkey corn dog and had a fab time!

    2. The "new" items this year are fried frog legs, batter fried Spam and some sort of cupcake.

...Gotta be better than the rattlesnake from last year.

I personally always get a cream puff...

The $1 entrance fee day is pretty crowded. There are plenty of "One Day Contests" and you get in free if you enter one of those-get a copy of the Competition Handbook at your local Public Library and see what contest is happeing the day you want to attend. It'll save you the $12 admission fee. Park in one of the free lots and save $9 too.

Remember it's closed on Monday June 16 and 23.

Already got the $1 tickets and been going since Don Diego used to greet us at the gate..I miss those days..
I did call my agent to see if there was any way I could jam just one or two songs with the wheelchair bound guys but I guess old dogs don't want to change their ways..
We'll have fun no matter..busy or not.

Well, by Tuesday it should not be as crowded. When it's dollar day Friday opening, people take off from work...it's crazy.

Did you see the U-T this morning? Mentioned winners and losers from the new foods- other things I did not know about were the Koolickles (kool aid infused pickles), deep fried macaroni on a stick, deep fried White Castle sliders, deep fried fish sliders, deep fried Mexican cream puffs (buñelos clamshell with whipped creeam stuffed into it) and the SUtrailian deep friedpotatoes double dunked in sweet chili sauce and ranch dressing...

Article said to avoid the first two and the cupcakes I mentioned earlier.

          We'll see...

          Enjoy the day...and report back!

I briefly scanned the paper this morning and did not see the junk food winner and losers..yikes!
All eyes on the US Open coverage.
When I get to the fair, I revert to a 13 year old and want to ride the zipper, take tons of photos in the photo booth, drink a couple of beers at the beer gardens and air drum to the 70's rock group in the Grandstand....yes, it's very sad.
