hey,

want to go to a place where we can get a some steamed blue crabs, beer, cole slaw etc, preferably on the water. any suggestions -
so far in the lead is waterman's with the crab claw also in the running.
i've never been to the area before or eaten crabs in this way so any suggestions would be great.
thanks.

  1. Bum Rogers Tavern & Crab House

    2207 SE Central Ave
    Seaside Park, NJ 08752
    732-830-2770

    1. Hands down - Oyster Creek Inn in Leeds Point (right by Smithville). Eat in the screened-in porch (Bill's Crab Room) - great crabs and lobsters, cold beer, right on the bay.

      1. You will find none better than Sambo's in Liepsic, DE. Maybe a bit less than 2.5 hr's from Phladelphia. They are seasonal, April - Oct., near Dover, well off the "beaten path." Very busy on weekends.

        1. Thanks for all of those suggestions and I will try all of the NJ places this summer - however for tomorrow we are meeting some friends who live in DC so were hoping for a place that was sort of equidistant from DC and Philly - so Sambo's might work, but we were thinking somewhere in Maryland. I should have specified!

The Crab Claw, St, Michaels MD. Right on the dock so you could arrive by boat.

Try Lazy Susan's Hot Fat Crabs on Rt 1 south of Lewes DE. Apparently it's moved to a new location. Cuisene: picnic tables covered with newspaper and a hammer for opening crabs. Messy but good and a lot of fun.
