Best Greek near Danforth Music Hall?

New York City Greek Girl coming up to Toronto for performances this weekend at Danforth Music Hall...looking for local recommendations on the best Greek in the neighborhood...casual or formal, price doesn't matter, it just needs to be GREAT. I have time for maybe one dinner and one lunch and don't want to make the wrong choice. If there is also a good Greek bakery or grocery, that's good too. Thank you!

  1. We live off the Danforth and I have to be honest with you - the Greek food seems pretty similar to me, no matter which restaurant you visit. However, for suggestions.. for a "nice" place I would recommend Pantheon. A second choice would be Mezes.

If you want great food and great atmosphere but not Greek food (hey it's in Greektown, so that's got to be worth sumpin) then try Embrujo Flamenco (I hope I spelled that right). It's just a few shops down from the music hall. Delish tapas and a fabulous flamenco show.

    1. My personal favourite: Cheap, cheerful and always busy. I think they even have a belly dancer entertain one night a week.

      1. If you are looking for the standard Souvalki and grilled lamb chops try the astoria at chester and Danforth, if you want more fancy try the Panteheon aslo around chester. If you like a decent tex mex, try willows, or for pub food the Allen's or the OLD Nick are good. All are within walking distacne.

        1. I like Lambros. We've gone a few times lately and are always happy with it. Great little portions for sharing. Alternatively, I like the Ouzeri.

          1. As for the bakery, I love Athens, just east of Logan (I think). Their custard pastries are good and I looove their loukomades.

I second Athens for the bakery, and for nice whole grilled fish my choice is always Pantheon.
