    1. Is it possible you mean Ebisu?

I get Esashi & Ebisu confused all the time.

I mean Esashi (sorry for the typo in the topic title). Tried to go there yesterday, gate down. A buddy of mine tried to get delivery twice last week & no answer.

I get those 2 mixed up all the time as well... So Ebisu is closed too? Yeesh!

Yes, it is very sad, but true. Esashi's space was sold, and they are closed forever. Now I don't know where to go for sushi... I guess I'll have to see if Takahashi is still good. Recs, anyone?

            FUCK!!!

Yikes! That is not good news. Now I'm nervous about Takahashi. Which is indeed still good, as of last month.

I think (hope) that Takahachi is safe... I ate there last night, packed as usual. Let's just hope that it doesn't go the route of many of the East Village restaurants & become at WaMu or some other form of useless bank... Sigh...

I'm really going to miss the Monk fish Liver at Esashi.

              1. re: thursdayclubjason

I liked that monkfish liver as well. I used to also get it at Mie, which is also gone. This is good for the monkfish, I suppose.

You can get monkfish liver at Kanoyama

                  1. re: kobetobiko

Thanks! I don't see it on the website menu, though - is it a frequent special? Kanoyama is definitely on my go-to-very-soon list.

                      Hi small_h,

It is always listed on the today's special menu, but it is almost always there! Ankimo Sashimi - look for this.

Aha! Much obliged. Another useful addition to my food-word bank.
