Rec's for Central Park West?

  • 3

I will be staying in the CPW - W. 97th Ave. area and need to know the best places to eat that are somewhat in the neighborhood. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  1. There are a bunch of threads on UWS dining, but I don't know how to link them.

    My current faves:
Buceo 95 on 95th just off of Amsterdam--tapas
Gennaro on Amsterdam between 92nd and 93rd (I think)--Italian (beware of Lisca across the street!!!)
    Alouette on Bway bw 98th and 99th (I think)--French
Pio Pio--Amsterdam and 94th--Peruvian, pretty good bang for the buck

If you walk down Amsterdam, there are lots and lots of places in the 80s and 90s. And Broadway from 96th St. north also has lots and lots of restaurants.

    1. I agree with the recs for Buceo (wine bar w/tapas), Gennaro (Italian) and Pio Pio (Peruvian, really good sangria). If you are interested in trying NY State wines, the back of Vintage (Broadway at 93rd) has a tasting area/wine bar with all of there offerings available.

I would add Gabriela's (nice Mexican with lovely outdoor seating on Columbus and 93rd) and Roth's Steakhouse (decent food, great brunch, with live music on the weekends, also on Columbus at 93rd). For good dominican, there's Malecon (Amsterdam and 97th). Further down, I like Zeytin (Turkish), Sol y Sambra (tapas), Luzia's (Portugese) and Celeste (Italian).

You can search UWS for more recommendations (esp. as PetiteSyrah says, for more in the 80s).

      1. I agree with many of the suggestions and would only add Bistro ten 18 @ A'dam and 110th. V nice wine selection and interesting menu, which you can check on their website.
