Suggestions Re: SAT 6/14/08 Near Jacob Javits

I need to tap into Chow's"hive mind"....

I need to make a reservation as soon as possible that meets the following criteria:

Saturday, June 14
8 PM, approximately
4 attendees
Business dinner
Located reasonably near the Jacob Javits Center
Menu that includes a variety of options...beef, seafood, poultry and vegetarian
Atmosphere conducive to quiet conversation
Reasonably priced

I'll value any first-hand recommendations (not search results) that Chowhounders can provide.

  1. Javits is around 34th and the WSH...I'd got with Keen's, 36th btw 5th and 6th (closer to 6th)

@LeahBaila: Thanks! Someone recommended Keen's burgers to me a few weeks ago....

Keens is our favorite NYC steakhouse. But, frankly, I would not consider it particularly vegetarian-friendly. Also, not sure what you consider "reasonably-priced," but I think most people would classify Keens as fairly expensive. You can see decide for yourself by checking the website.

Italian restaurants are good options when catering to a spectrum of diners' preferences and dietary needs. Osterial Gelsi, which serves delicious Pugliese-style cuisine, is closer to Javits than Keens. It's on the corner of 9th Av. & 38th St.

Thanks, RGR! Keen's did look pricey.

I've passed the link to Gelsi on to my colleague....

            Hey, NYCinephile,

Just thought of another restaurant that might work. West Bank Cafe, on 42nd St., b/t 9th & 10th Avs., serves excellent New American cuisine.

@RGR: West Bank was mentioned by a member of my Thrifty Gourmets Meetup Group. Thanks for endorsing the recommendation.
