Where's a great Diner - LIC / Sunnyside / Woodside / Maspeth
I want a turkey club or a burger, a ruben, meatloaf special, grilled cheese etc. Simple but good in a diner setting. Preferably where I might get called "Honey" by the waitress.
Oh and if they have all day breakfast with real corned beef hash that'd just be amazing!
thanks,
N

Not exactly where you wanted it, and I don't know anything aobut the food or the servers, but the Daly News thinks the Neptune Diner in Astoria is the best diner in all of NYC.

Woodside: Stop Inn is really good for breakfast (61st and Roosevelt). I like the Rainbow as well, just around the corner, on Wooside Ave by Sean Og's. Their burgers are way better than Stop Inn.
Maspeth: Fame Diner on Grand Ave (71st I think)is good as well. The only issue I've had with them is that when I ask for American cheese, I tend to get some sort of cheese wiz type of situation. Not good. A new place just opened on the corner of Grand and Remsen. Only been once, so far, but their burger was really good as well.
In Sunnyside, go to Rose on Queens Blvd, I think its around 44th or 45th. I believe it is still owned by the brother of the guy who owns the Butcher Block.
All of the above have breakfast all day (it's not a diner otherwise!) but I've never had corned beef hash at any of them. I don't trust the Irish to make corned beef anything. It's usually just awful.

re: deborah24
Butcher block is great. I'll definitely try Rose. It's also nearest to my work.
I think I know the place near best buy. Is it a diner car style diner? Chrome exterior, narrow? If it's the one I'm thinking of it sits with the narrow side facing the street so it's hard to see, across from the Home Depot driveway.
Thx for all the recs. I'm gonna have to go thru each one.

Alpha Donuts on QB and 46th is about as real as it gets. I've only had breakfast there, so I can't comment on the quality of the other food, but breakfast is good in a greasy diner kind of way. I've also heard great things about the little trailer diner over by Best Buy (northern blnd. and 50th) - the name escapes me right now, though. Also, Pete's Grill near the 33rd St. stop on QB is supposed to be good. Happy eating!
