Making your own beans...how firm?

I just bought some dried beans and did them up in the crockpot! Easy, cheap, and yummy! How firm should beans be? The once I made were a firmer than what you would get in a can. I'm mostly eaten only canned beans so my frame of reference is probably off.

I actually didn't mind the bean a little firmer. Is that all the matters?

  1. Anything north of crunchy is fine. It's just personal preference.

      Could be, however I usually go a step further and shoot for what I prefer as opposed to merely achieving what I don't mind.
