signature cocktail for 40th bday party?

maddogg280 Jun 11, 2008 01:40 PM

I'm throwing my sister a 40th bday party later this month and am looking for suggestions. I plan to serve heavy apps and finger sandwiches and beer and wine. I thought it might be a nice addition to have one signature cocktail in addition to the beer and wine (most folks coming are drinkers). No theme has been determined yet for this party, however, I'm considering a Purple Rain/Prince them (sis is huge fan).
I'm estimating about 20 guests. Looking for something I can mix in a pitcher and pour over ice to serve. Any suggestions out there? Drink recipes would be appreciated.
(FYI: Planning for indoor party, and will open the patio/deck if weather permits. People will be casually dressed- after work on a Friday evening)

The first thing that pops into my head is something with Chambord. Perhaps a sort of sour? Off the top of my head I would say 1.5 oz. of Gin, 1 oz. lemon juice, and .5 oz. of Chambord. If it turns out too tart for your tastes, you can just slowly add simple syrup until it suits you.

Call me crazy, but if it was a partry for me, I would like the signature drink to be a drink I liked.

      hasn't your sister any favorites?
