Link is to the article in the Herald but the following quote pretty much sums it up.

"In retrospect, the owner of Karu & Y realizes that spending $25 million to open a restaurant and nightclub on the edge of Overtown was a prescription for failure."

  1. Isn't it funny that the Herald says 'edge of Overtown' when they want to scare people, but 'Downtown', when they want to make it sound glamorous? Vagabond, PS 14, White Room, and the PAC are all on the 'edge of Overtown'. But somehow that magically becomes 'Downtown'? Herald strikes again...

The Herald would not want to embarrass anyone smart or rich. Vagabond, PS 14, etc. are for commoners who spend the money for a fair deal. Karu & Y is like a hedge food fund, designed to obscure the real mission.

This comment "In retrospect, the owner of Karu & Y realizes that spending $25 million to open a restaurant and nightclub on the edge of Overtown was a prescription for failure" betrays the discreet charms always displayed by the bourgeousie -- more pride than sense.

    2. that was a "duh". love the introspective comments that were fairly obvious to everyone else. pretty place though.
