Fun, trendy place in midtown?

Looking for a great restaurant in midtown are (East or West) that would accommodate a party of 7. Looking to wow an ex-NYer with a good meal and fun atmosphere. Something different...Is it possible in midtown?

Consider The Modern, at the museum of modern art. It's good, trendy enough.

the modern is probably one of the few places that fit the bill in midtown.

I wouldn't really call it "trendy", it's a beautiful space but more on the low-key side (i can actually hear my fellow diners without having to yell). I think the original poster is looking for something more on the level of a Buddakan or the Stanton Social type environment that has the club'esque type feel.

i personally don't like this place, but tourists seem to get a kick out of it and they will accommodate large parties
