I'm looking for BBQ gigs/contests this summer in Michigan. I know there is one in Bay City and I know they used to have one in Detroit, but I can't find any mention of it everywhere I've looked.

Thanks,

I think if you looked at other county fairs in Michigan, you might get some more info

      Thanks for the reply,

I'm trying to find the biggest gigs in the state with the possibility of shooting some video for a cooking show.

Hmmm, does it have to be a contest? Because Manchester Fire Department does a chicken broil that defies logic...it's big beyond all sense...probably would make for some great footage

and for that matter, any Saturday in Ann Arbor you will see some BBQ chefs bring out the HEAVY artillery

It doesn't have to be a contest, but when you have many different BBQer's at an event you can compare and contrast a lot of styles.

i went two years ago on a saturday evening (about 7:00pm). lots of people and not enough vendors (long lines) or vendors that had not run out of food yet. had to eat at loco's near greektown because we were hungry and my kids could not wait an hour to eat.
