Anyone BBQ competition folks done a "Buck a Bone"?
My husband and his BF have started entering BBQ competitions around KC and some have what is known as a "Buck a Bone" where one evening we can sell items to folks visiting the competition. Last year they entered the Blue Springs Blaze-Off for the first time when I was out of town and they were ill prepared for the "Buck a Bone" part. If anyone has participated in one before and would like to share some secrets we need help. I was thinking of selling funnel cakes made in a turkey fryer but on further investigation an doubting how well that will work. Do we need a more shallow fryer for funnel cakes? We are planning on pop and bags of chips forsure. Maybe we should stick with cookies or brownies wrapped in plastic. I don't know. Additionally we will have to try and sell some of our amazing Que. Any suggestions would be fantastic. Or if you have attended one of these competitions in the past what was missing that you would like to have seen offered?
