Hey 'hounders,

I would like to ask you all for your sage advice for where to eat before a group of girl friends (in their early 20s) of mine are going out for drinks at the Pegu Club. We're looking for something inexpensive (say under $25-30 pp, excluding drinks) and we're open to any cuisine.

Thanks in advance!

Oh, Lucia, I'm sorry -- I didn't see your post for some reason, though the time stamp was much earlier. Else I would've credited you for Po and Jane, first. As it is, I clearly agree!

you might like Jane for good, neighborhoody American food; Po for Italian; Galanga for Americanized Thai; Snack for Greek; 'Ino for Italian bar fare... you have lots of options, so you can afford to be picky about the cuisine!

Ushi is definitely out of the price range and might be difficult to get reservations for a group. The sushi sets that change daily start at about $35 or so.

My neighborhood! Lupa gets a big thumbs up but it can be hard to get in. Hundred Acres on Macdougal would be a nice place for a group of girlfriends. Prices are very good and the service was great. We had a very delicious trio of bruschetta that I'd go back for over and over and I also really enjoyed the rabbit dish. Also, Ama is right on that block and that's a place I love to go with my girls for reasonable fresh Italian.
