Urban Farming in Chicago

geg5150 Jun 9, 2008 06:27 AM

Hi folk,

Can't wait until I get to Chicago in just three weeks! I'll be living in Andersonville. Are there any urban farming projects in the city where residents can either lease a little plot or at least work in the garden? I did find some info about The Talking Farm in Evanston. Any others that you're aware of?

Thanks!

There is a city farm but I don't know much about it:

Different neighborhoods have different programs depending on public park availability in the neighborhood. I would get a hold of your alderman.

CityFarm is always looking for volunteers and also acts as a clearinghouse for temporary gardens on vacant and public land. I go there every couple of weeks during the summer to score terrific heirloom tomatoes.
