Tokyo: "must go to" places to eat and drink near Ginza, Yurakucho and Shinbashi stations?
A friend is coming into town and he wants to go out and have a good time. As I am unfamilar with Tokyo, I don't know exactly where to take him. At present, I am thinking of staying in the area close to his hotel, and have thought about the 300 yen bar (http://www.300bar.com/english/) and the Matsuzakaya beer garden (http://r.gnavi.co.jp/g008224/). Are there any other "must dos" in the area? I apologise if this is vague, but I don't know what's good in the area.
As this chap is likely to be in full-blown culture shock, it's probably best if we avoid places that are exaggeratedly Japanese in nature and orientation.
steamer, is Nelson's the place where all the drinks are 500 yen, but you have to pay at least 5000 to get the wooden coins?
There is always Shin Hinomoto (Andy's Bar) right under the tracks by Yurakucho station. Good izakaya food and an English speaking owner. It does get pretty loud and very smoky sometimes though.
