Breakfast in Salem MA.

I'm going to be in Salem MA. for a meeting and I'm looking for a good breakfast place in Salem. I need a place that has good food, good prices and a parking lot. Where are your favorite places for breakfast in Salem? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

  1. The best place for breakfast in Salem is Red's. It's good, price is right. Cash only. It's on Central Street, which is the terminis of Lafayette Street at the Pedestrian Mall, the heart of Salem.

Parking can be a %$#&%. You might get lucky with a metered parking -- don't overstay the time, we live on parking fines.

Your best bet is a gargage. Both the Museum Place Mall gargage and the South Harbor gargage are in easy walking distance. If you get lost, ask. Every resident knows where Red's is.

You say you are coming for a business meeting. You'll probably be staying at the Hawthorne or the Waterfront. You can walk to Red's from either.

I 2nd the recommendation for Reds. I grew up near Salem and went to Reds a couple times a month as a kid. I try to get back there when I visit as well. Not sure if they are still there, but there also use to be parking lots more or less across the street from the restaurant. I have great memories of their pancakes, but they also make a good classic egg breakfast.

I did go to Red's in Salem for breakfast today. I got 2 eggs scrambled with corned beef hash, home fries and toast ($5.95). Everything was delicious especially the corned beef hash. The corned beef hash had a nice crunch on the outside and was very tasty and not too salty. They give you plenty of food at Red's. I was stuffed. Their coffee from New England Coffee in Malden MA. was also very good. I had 2 cups of coffee. Thanks for the recommendation. I will definately return to Red's for breakfast. I also want to try them for lunch.

    2. Maria's is the best breakfast in Salem. Great food, they have a parking lot. Friendly staff and clean establishment. Reds is dirty and greasy food. Second nomination would be the Salem Diner. New owner, clean establishment, parking area. One great thing about both places is you can watch them cook and prepare your food.

I used to work in the area and Red's was my favorite lunch spot. Haven't had it in a while but the chicken salad is excellent.
